Comprehensive Examination/First visit Cleaning and Routine check-ups

  • The most important thing in dental health is to have regular check ups and cleaning.
A lot of dental problems can be avoided with regular care. We can detect problems when they are very small.

  • Your first visit will include comprehensive exam of your teeth gum and bone that is supporting the teeth.

  • We will also take x-ray of all your teeth. We have digital x-rays, which reduce the amount of radiation by 50-90% when compared to traditional x-rays.. These x-rays let us detect cavities when they are very small. We can also detect any bone loss caused by gum disease.

  • We also have the latest oral cancer screening available, known as Visilite. With this dental breakthrough, we can detect oral cancer before the visual signs ever appear to the naked eye.

  • These are great services that we can provide for you on your very first visit.

  • Based on clinical exam, ray and perio charting Dr Hamzeh will decide whether you need regular cleaning(prophy) or scaling and root planning(deep cleaning)

Teeth cleaning (regular professional cleaning)

During this procedure we will remove the plaque that has built up and hardened into tartar. The doctor or the hygienist will clean up (scale) the tartar above and below the gum line.

Teeth will be polished after that to remove stain.

Patients have to be seen every six months after that.

Scaling and root planning (Deep Cleaning)/Gum disease

  • Almost 70% of Adults have some form of periodontal disease. This disease, if not treated by your dentist, will cause the loss of both gums and teeth.

  • Mild cases can be treated by having routine cleanings more often than the recommended two times a year. These cleanings will remove the plaque and tartar from below the gums to allow them to heal for easier cleaning.

  • The signs of periodontal disease are easy to notice:

o        Gums that bleed when brushed

o        Red or swollen gums

o        Tender gums

o        Gums that recede from the teeth

o        Pus between teeth and gums when gums are pressed

o        Loose or separating teeth

o        Change in bite

o        Persistent bad breath

If any of these symptoms sound familiar please call today for an appointment. The sooner this disease is diagnosed the better your oral health will be.

Routine Examination/Regular checkups

Regular dental examination is important to detect tooth decay. They are to be scheduled every six months. During this appointment we will clean your teeth and we may take new x-rays.

Composites- (White fillings)

  • White fillings have been a great dental breakthrough. Instead of the old silver (Amalgam) fillings that were used before now, we can restore the teeth back to a great cosmetic shade and size.

  • Advantages of tooth colored fillings:

o        Shade matches tooth restored

o        Bonded to the natural tooth structure. These fillings require only the removal of decay (cavity).

o        Composites are mercury free.

o        White fillings are less sensitive to hot and cold because there is no metal in them. Metal is a thermal conductor.

These fillings have impeccable strength, cosmetic appearance, and patient acceptance. Call our office today for an exam to see if we can make your smile healthier.

Sealants

Sealants are a “type” of filling that we recommend for a lot of the children that we see. Sealants are a plastic coating that goes into the deep grooves of permanent teeth. These fillings are important to guard against cavities because they will have them for the rest of their life, but they have to be checked every 6 months. Sealant appointments are as easy as cleaning appointments. There are no drills and no needles. This kind of appointment builds confidence in your child about going to the dentist and makes their experience at the dental office a pleasant one.

Root Canals

  • Root Canal therapy is a procedure that is done to a tooth to remove the nerve and blood supply that is inside of the root of the tooth. This procedure is required in a number of cases but not all. Decay that has penetrated the nerve housing, cracked tooth, abscess-infection inside if the root and bone. This tooth is savable with root canal therapy.  After a root canal the tooth will no longer have pain.  It is recommended that a tooth that has had a root canal therapy to have a build up and a crown placed in the near future, to avoid the tooth from breaking down any further.

Crowns and Bridges

  • When a tooth is broken or cracked and cannot be successfully restored with a filling, we recommend a crown or a cap as they are better known.  This type of restoration is permanent and is cemented onto the natural tooth that is left.  In some cases we will need to “build-up” the tooth with a special type of filling material to get a better foundation for your crown to be supported by.  A build-up is only required if the tooth is badly broken or decayed.  Crowns are made a few different ways.  Some have metal on the inside and porcelain, which is the same color as your other teeth, on the outside.  Others are zirconium, a very hard “white” porcelain, on the inside and porcelain on the outside.  Depending on the location of the tooth that leads to a crown, your dentist will recommend which style to have placed.

Bridges are of the 2 or more of the above listed crowns.  Bridges are permanent (not removable), which they are cemented in.  Bridges will replace a missing tooth you will have to have a sturdy restorable tooth on either side of the “hole”.  The tooth on either side of the missing tooth will have a crown cemented on with a pontic (fake tooth) in the place where the hole is.  They are all connected together and will be cemented together.  These are a great restoration choice for a lot of people that are missing a tooth here or there.

Partials- Dentures

  • A partial denture is a great way to replace a few missing teeth in one arch (upper jaw) or (lower jaw).  If you have a few teeth that are in good shape and can support an artificial tooth, it is a perfect solution for you.  The more teeth we can save, the better the bone structure and the easier and happier you are.  Deciding to have a partial denture made for you is a great way to save those natural teeth.  Let the prosthetic teeth take the wear at everyday biting or chewing that your natural teeth take.

  • If your teeth and chewing your food have come to the last resort then dentures are right for you.  Dentures are custom made forms of the upper or lower teeth or both.  They are also known as plates or false teeth.  Dentures will replace all of the missing teeth in one full arch, to allow you to chew your food.  If there is not hope for your natural teeth there is still hope for chewing your good and having a great smile.  Call now for a denture consult.

Veneers

  • Have you ever wished you had better looking teeth without braces or crowns? Veneers could be the answer for you.  Veneers are custom designed “shells” of porcelain that is cement to your natural tooth.  Veneers are a great way to mask those miss-aligned, discolored, or worn teeth.  Ask your dentist if veneers are right for you.

Teeth Whitening

Whitening
  • Facial expression is a large part of confidence and body language. If you’re uncomfortable with the color of your teeth, ask our staff about teeth whitening (bleaching). The stain on your teeth could be a result of years of coffee, tea and wine drinking, smoking, or medication.  Stains on your teeth can be dramatically whiter in a few steps. Call to schedule a consult to see if this is the answer for your dull smile.

Treatment of anxious patient     [ back to top ]

We can prescribe medication that will help with anxiety.
We also have the nitrous oxide (laughing gas)
.
Implants     [ back to top ]
  • Dental implants are artificial root forms made at titanium to replace missing teeth. The “screw” type form is anchor that is placed in the bone by a surgeon to replace a tooth. This is a lengthy process but well worth it in the long run. This tooth will be around for a lifetime with no cavity ever! The first step is the placement if the implant which the surgeon will do. The next step is the restoration which your dentist will do. There are a few restorations that we can do on implants. A single crown, a bridge or a denture. Ask your dentist if you qualify for his amazing tooth replacement option.

Laser     [ back to top ]
  • Another one of the latest and greatest in the dental technology that our office provides for you. This soft tissue laser has many benefits. We use this laser to remove gum tissue around teeth for restoration (crown, veneer, filling) purposes. It also is great for reshaping gums from periodontal disease, braces and even fermiums (tissue attachments on the top and bottom lips and tongue). Laser treatment is a fast and easy procedure to remove gum tissue using a light beam that disintegrates the diseased tissue into a vapor. There is virtually no bleeding and post operative care needed. We are proud to offer this latest technology to our patients.

Bite Splints-Sports Guards
  • Do you grind or clench your teeth? You may not know that you do because most people do it in their sleep or as a nervous habit. Your dental staff has the training and knowledge to detect this. There are options to grinding your teeth away. We can make an appliance that you can wear when you grind or clench that most. This appliance is called an occlusal guard. Also known as a night guard or bite splint. If you suffer from: headaches, sore jaw muscles, frequent toothaches, facial pain, worn or broken tooth enamel, earaches or insomnia. You may benefit from this. It is a very simple procedure and most dental insurance companies pay for this appliance. Check your dental benefits or let us check them for you.

  • This is nothing more than a parent wants to protect their child. A sports mouth guard is an easy, inexpensive way to keep your baby’s pearly whites in place. If your child is a sports player ask you dental team if he or she would benefit from a sports mouth guard. Most schools require them to be in the mouth before the player gets on the field. Protect you child’s teeth today by getting them fitted for a custom mouth guard.

Vizilite Plus is an oral cancer screening that we recommended to all our patients over the age of 18. It is recommended annually. Visilite when combined with a conventional visual examination, it helps detect and identify precancerous and cancerous abnormalities.
ViziLite Plus is a quick and painless exam that helps us to see more clearly lesions that we might not be able to see with unaided vision.
